Flightless
I extend my wings and the sun shines through where failed searches for your love have clipped my wings.
Wearing lead boots I jump for the sky.
Am I flightless or have these failed attempts worn at my soul so much that is has rendered me fightless?
There is one way that I may take to the skies, the thought of your embrace, your soft caress could suffice to send me soaring.
Without you I am rooted ever so deeply into the Earth.
I often wander in wonder if I'll ever get the taste of Heaven again.
I learn to fly, feel the wind against my soul, you are the catalyst for my flight the fire in my fight.
Stay by my side, if just for one more night only to hide the shackles that I am flightless without you.
I am molting, shedding my shackles, uprooting the binds that keep me grounded and grow fresh feathers new wings and fight with my last ounce of energy, breath to shout your name to the Heavens and take to flight.
Will I endure failure and fall back to the Earth in a pile of ashes? Will my love for you sustain my flight?
Feeling the warmth of the rays of the sun I closed my eyes and take flight I am coming home to your arms once again.
