Snow Blind

Snow Blind
by Omar Rivera

Desolate Cold of winter strikes the night air.

Purity of fresh powder in the morning shows no despair.

Warmth of your love thaws even the coldest of hearts.

Lost in a blizzard cold and obtuse.

I embrace the disorientation and bask in the blanket of the memories of your embrace.

I search for the beacon, look for the light and come up empty, the wind blows harder the snow more heavy... I have become snow blind.

Your love majestic, pure, amazing as the northern lights shines a way in the night sky.

Without you I only had the barren white ground, moonlit desert nights, and the lonely wolves' cry to accompany me.

You've brought light to this dark soul.

The sun rises, and I exhale my last breath only to regain my sight and find myself 10ft from your cabin door, you open the door I smile, feel the warmth of your embrace and I have arrived at the gates in the clouds.
