Perspectives

Not a poem per say, perhaps a rant into an open forum but here goes nothing........

Perspectives
By Omar Rivera

Does the floor face the wall or does the wall face the floor?

Is the corner just a place to be alone or are you just being bad company?

Does the floor ever look up if the ceiling is always looking down on it?

Is the ceiling someone to look up to?

Should you stand on the ceiling or float on the floor?

Too much fighting not enough love.

Too many rights at risk without the other giving respect.

Kick the poor, eat the rich, bail out the greedy, and spit on the veteran that gave his life for LIBERTY and JUSTICE for ALL.

Our view is askewed and our system more and more convoluted.

We lost our hand on the Bible and our hand on the belt.

What's your perspective on things?

You an call yourself an optimist or a pessimist; Whilst you argue on whether the cup is half empty or half full... I'm an opportunist I drank the water in the cup.

The Admiral

The Admiral
By Omar Rivera

There was a time when the sun would rise.
There was a time when the night began.
Playing cruel cruel games on the moon.
And I hear her calling " Admiral"

When I'm with you she calls to me.
Sailing charred skies and rough seas.
Still I hear her calling tooooo the "Admiral"

The time has come for me to leave.
And I hope that you've forgiven me.
I drop the sails and man the fleet to the one who calls out to me "The Admiral"

Angel of mine

Angel of mine
-Omar Rivera

Your gracious smile.
Your lovely face.
A love that's out of this world.
Without you I float aimlessly in space.
You held my hand and I float to cloud nine.
You said you loved me and proved my Heaven on Earth.
I love you more and more.
Every breath i take is dedicated to loving you.
Angel come down from your cloud, hold my hand again.
Sooth my soul with your words, save me with your embrace.
Hold me, tell me you love me, again until I expell my last dying breath.

Last Days

“ Last Days ”
By Omar Rivera

How will you be known?
What legacy has been left behind? And what dynasty have you built?
Is it one of pain, torment, and guilt?
In these last days I am but a shadow.
Seen but ignored in your sight.
As night falls I’m out of sight but a comic relief in the sight of the morning star.
These last days I wish to hold close by your side and not be contrived.
Your ignorance is bliss, shower me with a smile.
These last days my unworthiness outweighs my uselessness.
Am I nothing? Or do you love the sight of a tormented soul aimlessly worshipping your
every breath and every step.
Even in these last days I bring nothing just a shadow, a hollow vessel, and a broken
soul.
I still long to love you in these ending days as the clock ticks away.
My last days.

Wilted Tree

“ Wilted Tree”
By Omar Rivera

In this world I can’t deny the realness of my sins.
Searching low and searching high loving her I cannot shy.
Your cruel intentions never lost, yet scold my longing soul.
Betrayed I was, speared right through the heart.
A wilted tree I am whose leaves fall apart.
Confused with life, love and strife like Romeo and Juliet.
This confusion shall take my life.

Since Then

“ Since Then “
By Omar Rivera

My heart cries… cries out for angel eyes.
Touch me , hold me, tell me, I belong to you and only you.
Your angelic presence rekindles the love I have for you.
I close my eyes at night and still I feel my hand on yours.
You crushed my heart and devoured my soul… yet I stand before you asking for more.
Undeserving of your love I reach out to be loved.
Emotions rush and I feel frail… yet I’m invincible in your arms.
I wonder why your heart never reached back?
I contemplate how many more blades will you pass through my heart.
Heaven on Earth I crawl away picking up the pieces of my heart.
My skies are grey so yours could be blue.
Know this angel, how I love you.

Flutter

“ Flutter “
By Omar Rivera

Butterflies in my stomach every time I hold your hand.
Your soft caress and warm kisses make me a bubbling mess.
Baby, don’t be so cruel as to just walk on by.
Fools rush in so let me savor your smile, your warm embrace.
The irregular beat of my heart steadies at an alarming pace when in your presence.
Like the wings of a hovering humming bird your beauty raises my pulse and captivates
me.
My flutterby.
An angel sent to forever be loved by me.
Flutter.
Flutter.
Flutter into the clouds; I will forever admire your beauty and long for the gentle,
graceful flaps of your wings against the cool spring breeze that bring the hope of being
loved once again.
